Era en principio una ocupación veraniega que se alargo a los fines de semana mientras terminaba sus estudios en Denia (Alicante). Entonces decide dedicarse a la cocina de manera profesional y aprender del oficio diario en diferentes establecimientos y de los libros, además de los viajes. Su formación es autodidacta en gran parte.
Es poseedor de cuatro estrellas Michelín: tres en su restaurante de Dénia y una en su restaurante de Valencia. El año pasado fue investido Doctor Honoris Causa en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche. Su cocina destaca por su excelencia, innovación, cultura y tradición.
Su restaurante Quique Dacosta, ubicado en Dénia, se encuentra en la posición nº 26 de la prestigiosa lista The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013. Por segundo año consecutivo, es nombrado en 2013 “Mejor Restaurante de Europa” por la lista Opinionated About Dining.
Quique Dacosta is a chef born in 1972 in Jarandilla de la Vera (Cáceres) Spain. At age 14 he traveled to Denia (Alicante), to meet his mother. In 1986 begins in the summer to work washing dishes in a bistro, with the sole purpose of helping at home with the economic resources, and use some time off his free time in Denia (Alicante), where he finally decided to stay with her mother and live the Mediterranean lifestyle. That was originally a summer occupation while the time he was finishing his studies in Denia. Then he decided to devote himself to the kitchen professionally and learn the daily office in different establishments, books, and travels. His training was to be self-taught.
He holds four Michelin stars: three in his restaurant in Denia and one in his Valencia restaurant. Last year he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from the Miguel Hernández University. His kitchen stands for excellence, innovation, culture and tradition.
His restaurant Quique Dacosta, located in Denia, is in position nº26 of the prestigious list The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2013. For the second year, he was appointed in 2013 «Best Restaurant in Europe» by the Opinionated About Dining list.
